Steelworks NZ Ltd were contracted by Lockwood to provide steel work for the LDS Church project in Guam, a small island nation in the Pacific Ocean.
This was a 4.37 ton steel project, and had to comply with the Pacific Island’s building standards as the site is very near the sea and is subject to salt spray, very high temperatures and humidity. Due to the remote location, all building material had to be imported to the site. Local labour was utilised with additional technical support from Lockwood.
There are always challenges to building in such a remote location but the Church was completed to specification and within the time frame specified and now provides a strong and safe meeting house for the LDS Church and the community.
