Steelworks New Zealand Ltd are specialist structural steel fabricators and erectors, with purpose built facilities and equipment to produce high quality and cost effective structural steel to the construction industry. Together with a qualified and experienced team of 35 based at our 2000m2 factory and 4000m2 yard on Hewletts Road, Mt Maunganui, we are able to provide steel from a single flitch beam to multi tonne structures anywhere in New Zealand or abroad.
We are always available to offer advice for your project in steel based on our knowledge gained from previous projects. We can assess your design and highlight factors that will influence the final cost, offering alternatives where appropriate to ensure the most cost competitive design in the early stages to help achieve this objective.
Rocket Ship fabrication and install at Memorial Park
It’s our goal to make the supply and installation of steel hassle and stress free! We will make arrangements to collect plans, provide site measure and discuss your requirements. We will supply CAD shop drawing for checking and can guarantee delivery when required, subject to terms and condition of sale.
Steelworks NZ Ltd have experienced and fully qualified structural steel fabricators to AS/NZS standards who can assemble and join steel to your design specifications and requirements. Steelworks NZ Ltd have gained AS/NZ ISO 3834 International Institute of Welding qualification and we are a certified fabricator under the accredited Steel Fabricator Certification (SFC) Quality Assurance Scheme. This provides procurers and specifiers with certainty of product quality, and shows that we have proven procedures and personnel that represent international best practice.

Transport Barge
We have had experience in the marine industry including construction of Barges.We have constructed a 63 tonne Transport barge (24m length and 4.9m wide), with a hydraulic bow ramp, twin screw, deck mounted Hi-ab loading and unlodaing crane, anchor winches fore and aft, with fuel carrying capacity of 80 tonnes plus deck cargo.The barge was constructed in our factory at Mount Maunganui. It was made to comply for marine survey with offshore capabilities in mind.
Dumb Barge
We have assembled and fabricated a 74 tonne Dumb barge (18m x 9m x 2m) for a client requiring one for constructing marinas.
Pile Driving Barge and Floating Platforms
In addition, we have constructed a pile driving barge and have undertaken many other marine projects such as floating building platforms on pontoons.
