We have a strong team of 38 specialist structural steel fabricators and erectors, with purpose-built facilities and equipment at 34 Whakakake St, Tauriko.
Steelworks is not just focused on business growth but also on fostering a supportive and nurturing workplace culture. “We work hard to cultivate a giveback culture, providing education and goal-setting support for team members who want to advance both professionally and personally,” says Elliott “We have been successful because of our staff and the people we have around us”.

We have the AS/NZS ISO3834 International Institute of Welding qualification and are certified fabricators under the SFC Quality Assurance Scheme (CC3 - Construction Category 3). As part of our commitment to the SFC scheme we provide full material traceability including mill certification as well as fabrication, welding, surface treatment and site QA. This package is provided to the client on completion of a project.
Steelworks NZ Ltd is Sustainable Steel Certified which recognises our commitment to a sustainable vision where we provide steel products as a critical enabler in New Zealand’s journey to a low emission economy. The vision is fundamental to our connection with New Zealand and the growth of our business. This will be achieved by delivering to the living standards framework (LSF) where we understand our environment, economic and social choices have an impact, now and in the future. We are committed to a sustainable future for our business and industry, our people, customers, and communities.
Steelworks' dedication to excellence extends beyond their immediate operations. Their Hinuera Sheds project won the global Constructsteel Awards – Excellence in Sustainability 2024 category held in Charlotte, North Carolina, on 23rd October 2024.
This innovative initiative involved repurposing nearly 200 tons of recycled fabricated beams from a demolished building into storage sheds, showcasing the potential of steel in the circular economy.
“By addressing the challenges of damaged components, we demonstrated how recycled steel can meet design specifications and standards advancing the concept of reuse for reconstruction,” Grier said.
“This project showcases our evolution into the sustainability era and highlights how innovative solutions to recycling material can position steel as a key player in the circular economy.”
"During the entire project, Steelworks NZ was there. We ended up with an amazing construction that our directors and ourselves value highly"
